To save wear and tear on our couch from our three dogs, Mary and I decided to buy a large kennel cage to keep the dogs in during the day. Mind you, I hate putting animals in cages of any kind, so I set this up so that the kennel is in the kitchen up against the backdoor. And since the backdoor has a doogie door in it, the dogs can then go in and out of the kennel (and the house) to their hearts content. They are only not allowed to enter any other part of the house.
Anyway, last night as I was making dinner for myself (Mary was visiting a sick cousin), and I was in the kitchen alone, I heard a noise come from the kennel which was still up against the kitchen door. Looking over at it, I noticed that the dogs were not in it, nor were they even in the same room. Immediately, I knew what the sound was that I’d heard; it was the sound that the kennel makes when you slap the top of it with your hand (a kind of bang/vibration sound as the metal mesh of the cage reacts to the sudden downward concushion). I thought that a little strange as I was no where near it, nor had I even touched it for some time.
Then later, for about the first hour after having gone to bed, the dogs proceeded to growl and bark as if hearing something in the house that they didn’t like. I wonder if there was “something” in the house that was harassing the dogs? It wouldn’t be the first time. I read somewhere that certain entities don’t like it when animals can see them. And they will sometimes harass the animal trying to get it to ignore them. Well, I guess that didn’t work with my dogs.
