Every year around this time we bring out our Halloween decorations, and set them up throughout the living room. And since it is not quite Halloween, we are temporarily storing the outdoors decorations in our front bedroom, which we call the “office”, to keep them safe until Halloween night. (We don’t put up our outdoor decorations until the night before Halloween because we’ve had a problem with some teenage boys trying to steal one of our motorized spiders).
One item currently in the office is a banshee that lights up, screaming and slowly moving down from it’s holder on a set of strings; all after sensing movement nearby. When I put the banshee in the office I made certain that it was turned off to save its batteries, and because I didn’t want it going off every time I went in there.
Last night after getting home from work, Mary reminded me that the internet was not working, again (Lately we’ve been having to reboot both the modem and the router on a regular basis; I’m not certain if one of them is getting ready to go out, or if one of our “guests” is playing with them). We both went into the “office” to see if we could get the internet up and running again.
After about a minute into our reset, the banshee (which was sitting on the counter next to us), went off. Needless to say, it gave both of us quite a start as neither of us had even touched it. I’m beginning to wonder if the apparition that I saw twice on highway 50 hitched a ride home with me one day, as ever since then things have been getting quite busy in this house indeed.
