This morning on the way into work, once again I had a weird thumping noise start up while driving on highway 50 between 65th street and Watt Avenue. This time though, it sounded like someone was standing in the bed of my truck and kicking the wall of the bed that sits up against the cab. And once again, like with the door noise, it was very loud!
As I did with the door banging, once at work, I checked my entire truck to see if I could find any natural cause for the noise. Afterall, if there is something wrong with my truck, I want to make certain I figure out what it is before something bad happens. I checked the tailgate; nothing. I checked the connection between the bed and the cab; nothing. I checked my spare tire to see if it might be loose; nothing. I double-checked the passenger door; it was shut properly. The only two things that could have even possibly caused any banging (but not as loud as I heard), were the hooks for my cargo net, and a bottle of oil behind the drivers seat. I removed both and placed them where they won’t make noise any more, made sure the truck was locked and everything turned off, and walked into work.
About 30 minutes later a co-worker comes up to me and tells me that my dome light is on in my truck! I know I didn’t leave it on, because even though I did turn it on to check my hair, I made a special point to turn it off before heading into the building.
I walked outside to check on my truck and lo and behold, my dome light was on. Putting two and two together, I decide to go back into the building, get my digital recorder and do a quick recording for EVPs.
After the recording, I listened to it directly from the recorder with my earbuds, and I found two EVPs! The first one occurs immediately after I pause to let whomever speak for 30 seconds. It says, “What is wrong with me?” along with a sound of crying. The second occurs right after my question, “What is your first and last name?”, and the answer was “housen” or “al did it”.
Even though I’m certain I captured two EVPs, I still need to download the recording to my editing program and clean it up to get the actual wording of the EVPs. However, the fact that I got anything tells me that I did indeed see an apparition on highway 50, twice, and I am not imagining that someone or something is making noises in my truck, and causing things to happen at the house.
Later on during my morning break, I went back out to the truck and spoke out loud to the spirit, and told them that there wasn’t anything wrong with them except that they were dead. And I told them that they needed to go into the light where they will find their family members and friends that have passed on. I also told them I would pray for them, which I did, asking God to be merciful and send an angel to guide them to the light.
UPDATE:
Mary and I decided to see if we could find a natural cause for the thumping noise in the bed of my truck. We drove down hwy 50 to Bradshaw Rd. and heard absolutely nothing. Then I put the cargo net and bottle of oil back where they were, and a loud, sharp banging sound was heard every time we went over a bump. I almost thought that was the noise I was hearing until we asked the ghost to make the noise again. As we approached the 65th Street off-ramp we heard a loud thump. Mary turned to me and said, “there is no explanation for that! That sounds like someone kicked the bed of the truck!”. I nodded my head “Yes”, and stated that that was the sound I heard, only repeatedly. The sound was a dull thump, whereas the cargo net hooks were making a sharp banging noise.
I decided we would do one more test to rule out the cargo net, and when we got back to the house I did the following:
With Mary still in the cab of the truck, and all the doors and windows shut:
1. Rattled the cargo net hooks. Mary shook her head “No”.
2. Kicked the bed of the truck wall directly behind the cab, and Mary’s head shot up and she nodded her head “Yes”.
Still wanting to completely rule out the cargo net, I unhooked it and slammed the bulk of the net against the same truck wall, Mary shook her head “No” again. So I then kicked the bed of the truck once more, and Mary gave me a “Yes” nod.
It was solved, someone or something was standing in the bed of my truck and kicking the bed wall directly behind the cab. But why?
After we got home I started listening to my recordings (they are four), and in the first parking lot recording I found several EVPs! The most amazing is one that includes a loud, frustrated yell after “What is wrong with me!”.
